The French-German Cultural Center brings together two institutions in one location:
the Goethe-Institut for the Palestinian Territories and the Ramallah Branch of the Institut français in Jerusalem.
For over ten years, we have been working together on cultural projects in various artistic fields (cinema, visual arts, performing arts, architecture, science…) and offer French and German language courses as well as language exams. Our Robert Schuman Mediatheque offers over 11.000 documents from a wide range of topics. Our Bibliobus also brings a selection of this collection to different cities, visiting schools in the West Bank and East-Jerusalem that teach French and German to their pupils.
The French-German Cultural Center's team is made up of employees from the Goethe-Institut and the Institut français. Though each institution has its own projects and international networks, our cooperation involves working together in different artistic and educational fields and building a common network of Palestinian, French and German actors.
Within our institutional networks, we aim, along with our partners, to reach a very broad public, from language students, members of the artistic and cultural scene, curious individuals as well as those interested in learning more about France and German, beyond Ramallah, in East-Jerusalem, Gaza and other parts of the West Bank
It is thanks to our partnerships with Palestinian institutions that the French-German Cultural Center has become an important local actor in the cultural landscape and active institution in providing capacity-building opportunities. We are also part of EUNIC Palestine, a collective of European cultural institutions that allows a network of partners to meet and work together on projects related to Europe.
This French-German collaboration in Ramallah between the Goethe-Institut and Institut français – with a common house and joint projects - is unique in the world.
We look forward to your visit!
